Airport Charges

Airport Charges

Fraport AG and airline representatives have agreed on the development of airport charges at Frankfurt Airport during the years 2012 to 2015. A corresponding agreement was signed today by representatives of Fraport AG, the airlines and airline associations.

An agreement was reached which will provide planning security on both sides for the next six years and considers difficult economic situation of airlines by deferring the charges increase far into the year 2010.

At the beginning of December 2009, Fraport and airline representatives already reached agreement on revising airport charges for the years 2010 and 2011. The agreement provides that charges will be raised by four percent on July 1, 2010, and on October 1, by three percent. On April 1, 2011, they will be raised by a further three percent, and a half-year later, on October 1, 2011, by yet another 3 percent. During the years 2012 to 2015 charges will rise by 2.9 percent annually under the latest agreement.

A further result of the negotiations: If passenger figures at Frankfurt Airport develop faster than expected, the airlines will be reimbursed one third of the additional revenue.

As of January 1, 2010, there is a separate schedule for charges for the central ground handling infrastructure facilities. Because of the review of the charge model of central ground handling infrastructure with the purpose to increase the Pax-variable part of the charge, a new charge list will be valid from October, 2010.
