320 meters to the gate
Passengers in the expanded Hall C reach their flight gates in Pier C/D via a 320-meter long connecting corridor. In view of the planned future link to the relocated Pier C, the functional structure, which rests on 170 pillars, has only one "attractive side". To the north, an energy-saving glass facade offers passengers a view of the Taunus mountain range, whereas on the other side, the structure has closed provisional walls. At a later point in time Pier C will be expanded airside. Some 1,000 metric tons of steel, 1,500 metric tons of construction steel and 10,000 cubic meters of concrete were used for the construction of the connecting corridor.
