In modern society it is inconceivable to do without air transportation and the associated conveniences of daily life. The benefits of global mobility and international trade are enjoyed by everybody.
However, powered vehicles on the ground, in the water, or in the air are always a source of noise, which with growing intensity may be considered a noise blight.
Especially with regard to aircraft, technological progress as well as aircraft improvements and better flight procedures have led to a considerable reduction in air noise emissions during the past few years.
Fraport AG considerably contributed to these improvements, for example, by introducing staggered noise-related landing charges
(263 KByte) and by developing the “Frankfurt Approach Procedure.“
As a result, the equivalent continuous sound level Leq(4) determined in accordance with the German Aircraft Noise Act is now generally considerably lower than 20 years ago, despite the growing number of aircraft movements.
