Fraport Manager to run the new Airport in Dakar, Senegal

Under a competitive international bidding process, Fraport and its partners have won the contract for operating and managing the planned new airport of Dakar, Senegal, for a period of 25 years. The foundation stone for the new airport in Senegal has been laid on 4 April 2007 and construction has already been commenced.

Upon its opening in 2010, Fraport experts will be in charge of managing the entire airport operation of the new airport (airside and landside), such as terminal management, retailing, facility and airside management, real estate development and passenger handling. Fraport specialists are already busy optimizing the existing airport plans. These specialists will also keep an eye on the construction progress and, finally, will be in charge of organizing the transfer of operations to the new airport when completed.

Fraport will ensure an efficient know-how transfer and organize training sessions for the staff to ensure that the new airport will be operated according to international standards and best practices.

The new airport will be located east of the capital city toward the tourist beaches. Airlines currently providing regular services at Dakar Airport include: Air France, Alitalia, Iberia, TAP, British Midland, SN Brussels, South African Airways, Delta and Lufthansa Cargo.
