Networking Transportation Systems

The ZIV, which stands for "Center for Integrated Transportation Systems", is a center of expertise for all tasks involved in networking transportation systems. Being an institute of the Technical University of Darmstadt and heavily involved in helping Fraport AG plan the expansion of the airport, ZIV possesses excellent knowledge of the conditions in which airports operate.

The following services are offered to regional and international airports:

• Landside integration:
  ZIV provides solutions to optimally design the interface between road traffic, public ground transportation and air traffic for different user groups. In doing so, ZIV takes into account traffic flows on access roads and in front of the terminals, the connections between road traffic, public ground transportation and the airport itself, and the parking facilities by constructing macroscopic and microscopic traffic models to serve as basis for forecasting, planning, design assistance, testing and optimizing guidance and information systems.
  
• Traffic in apron areas and optimization of space requirements:
  ZIV enables you not only to optimize the use of vehicles, but also to optimally utilize space resources and provide greater freedom and latitude for the airport's further development. To accomplish this, ZIV works with traffic models to capture, assess and optimize ground traffic in apron areas.
  
• Support for planning:
  For new construction and expansion projects, ZIV supports you through the planning process, also performing traffic studies and various other tasks during planning and implementation.

   

• Quality management:
  ZIV supports you for implementing integrated management systems that meet your requirements with regard to the up-to-dateness, accuracy, availability and confidentiality of data.

   

Fraport holds a 25-percent share in the company.
