This year's anniversary Christmas Market features a new design, more international handicrafts, and a delightful program of entertainment and activities for children and adults of all ages. The International Christmas Market is held at the Airport Gallery in Terminal 1, located on the mezzanine overlooking the check-in counters of Departures Hall B. Opening hours are from 10:00 to 19:00, including on Christmas Day (December 25) and Boxing Day (December 26), and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Christmas Eve (December 24). For international travelers, local residents and airport staff alike, the International Christmas Market is the ideal place for finding unique Christmas decorations, doing last-minute shopping, tasting German treats, or simply enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of one of Germany's most beloved Christmas traditions. Along with its new design, the International Frankfurt Airport Christmas Market features many new exhibitors - more than half of the approximately 40 stands this year. The selection of international handicrafts has grown considerably. In particular, there are many items from the Caribbean and South America, Bali (Indonesia), India, Majorca (Spain) and Zimbabwe. Tour operator Thomas Cook will be showcasing holiday destinations such as Cuba, Mexico and the Turkish region of Belek. A model railway is also on display at the International Christmas Market. Visitors can enjoy the lively program of music and other events. On December 4 and 18 between 12:00 and 19:00, experience African dance and acrobatics by Nanah Asamoah. On December 6 between 15:00 and 17:00, jolly St. Nick himself will appear at the International Christmas Market. Children who come dressed in Santa Claus costumes will receive a small gift. Fraport AG has invited the Frankfurt Eintracht soccer club to sign autographs and meet fans on "Nikolaus" day. On December 7 at 14:30 and 15:30, dont miss more holiday cheer and excitement when the Frankfurt Galaxy (American football) cheerleaders visit the market decked out in their Santa Claus outfits. On December 11 from 14:00 to 19:00, Latin rhythms mix with Christmas spirit when Proyecto Latino present dances from the Caribbean and Columbia. On Wednesdays and Saturdays from 14:00 to 18:00, Fraport's day care staff will offer supervised activities for the children, including Christmas craft-making. Under the expert guidance of artists from the famous porcelain works in nearby Frankfurt-Höchst, adults can try their hand at painting their own Höchst porcelain masterpieces. On Wednesdays from 15:00 to 17:00, local artist Giesla Wittmer will be showing children and adults how to do Christmas paintings on glass. There will be many other special events on the weekends, including German and Caribbean Christmas songs. Visitors also have a chance to win flight tickets, all-inclusive package tours, hotel stays, and other prizes that will be raffled off.
