FRA/rap-th> New hand-luggage regulations for passengers traveling to U.S. destinations have already been implemented at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). Under the new regulations, small amounts of liquids, gels, etc. are allowed in carry-on luggage again. Travelers are permitted to carry liquid items packaged in containers with a capacity of up to 100 milliliters, which fit comfortably inside one clear, closed and resealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 liter. There is a limit of one bag per passenger. At the security checkpoints the plastic bags must be removed from hand-luggage for separate x-raying. This procedure is required under new hand-luggage regulations from the U.S Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the German Ministry of the Interior. Effective November the new regulations will be implemented throughout the European Union for all departing flights, irrespective of destination. Clear resealable plastic bags may be purchased as freezer bags in many supermarkets. Zip-top bags are recommended. The individual containers (cans, tubes, bottles, etc. ) must not exceed a capacity of 100 milliliters. Larger containers, even if only partly filled, will be confiscated at the security checkpoints. The plastic bag may hold any number of containers; however, it must be completely sealable. Containers that only fit into an open bag are not allowed, nor are simple plastic bags closed with a rubber band or similar item. Personal prescription medicines or other non-prescription drugs in liquid or gel form (e.g., diabetes medication) are exempt from this restriction, if required during the flight. Baby food is also exempt, if passengers are traveling with small children. These liquids must be presented at the checkpoint for examination, together with supporting evidence of their required use during the flight. Passengers may also bring liquid duty-free products on board U.S. flights provided the items have been purchased at FRA's secure boarding area – located after the second security checkpoint – or have been handed over to the passenger during or after boarding the aircraft. In any case, when making purchases U.S.-bound travelers should inform duty-free staff about their flight destinations. – ENDS – For More Information, Please Contact:
