  • The U.S. military hands back another 100.7 hectares, of which 22.7 hectares are allocated to the CargoCity South project.

1996:

  • Foundation stone laid for the airport company's new airfreight terminal at CCS.
  • Cargo Immobilien GmbH (Wiesbaden) rents its first new freight hall and office complex at CCS.

1997:

  • Inauguration of Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG's (now called Fraport AG) airfreight terminal at CCS, featuring 56,000 square meters of hall space and 10,000 square meters of office space.
  • Construction starts for a parking deck and employee cafeteria.

1998:

  • Airport Entrance 31 is reconstructed.
  • Completion of the cafeteria and parking deck.

1999:

  • Airport Entrance 32 is completed, making the southern operations area accessible to public traffic.

2000-2006:

  • More and more domestic and international logistics companies conclude long-term building lease contracts with Fraport and celebrate foundation stone, topping-out, and inauguration ceremonies for their new facilities at CargoCity South. As of August 2004, some 232 companies were based at CargoCity South.
