FRA/rap> Frankfurt Airport's Winter Timetable 2006/2007, which goes into effect on Sunday, October 29, will feature 4,252 scheduled passenger flight departures per week to almost 300 destinations in 110 countries. This represents a modest 1.3 percent increase compared to the 2005/2006 winter season. A total of 127 scheduled passenger airlines will serve Frankfurt Airport (FRA), flying to 148 intercontinental and 144 European destinations (total 292). China Eastern Airlines (MU/CES) and SN Brussels Airlines (SN/DAT) –which started FRA services during the last summer schedule –will also be providing flights this winter to Shanghai and Brussels, correspondingly. Ready at the starting gate for the new timetable is Niki, the Austrian-based airline founded by former Formula 1 driver Niki Lauda. At the end of October, Niki will introduce 11 flights per week to Vienna (VIE). At the beginning of December, Lufthansa will commence a thrice weekly service to a new destination in eastern India: the metropolis of Kolkata (CCU), previously known as Calcutta. Condor's (DE/CFG) timetable will include Goa (GOI) in India, and Samana (AZS) in the Dominican Republic. Many other carriers have increased their flight frequencies on various routes to Asia and the U.S. FRA's Winter Timetable 2006/2007 will also feature 254 cargo-only flight departures per week, an increase of 6.2 percent compared to the previous winter season. Some 88 destinations in 44 countries – including 58 intercontinental destinations – will be served regularly by freighters. A total of 34 airlines will be offering cargo-only flights via FRA. Adria Airways (JP/ADR) will be starting a cargo service between Frankfurt and Ljubljana (LJU), Slovenia.
