Security requirements are nowadays extremely exacting – particularly in aviation. Airports are deploying ever more advanced technologies and increasing numbers of personnel to ensure passenger, baggage and cargo security.

Fraport is already today optimally positioned in terms of airport and aviation security: Fraport provides the entire range of security services via its wholly-owned subsidiary Fraport Security Services GmbH (FraSec).

In the airport security segment the company offers high-quality security-relevant services tailored to individual customers' needs. These include inter alia security patrols, transport of valuables, as well as integrated security concepts. Furthermore, Fraport AG operates its own canine unit with 14 watch and explosive search dogs that are primarily used for property protection and for searching baggage.

The Frankfurt Airport Fire Services are responsible for both fire prevention and protection in  the terminals and other buildings at FRA as well as aircraft fire fighting. External companies can benefit from Fraport's expertise via the Fire Training Center which offers fire fighting and aircraft recovery training as well as fire protection consultancy services.

At Frankfurt Airport, actions taken by the individual service units are coordinated and documented by the Safety and Security Coordination Center, which functions as a central alarm and reporting post and, in cases of emergency, major disasters or serious operational disruptions, activates Fraport AG's internationally recognized Emergency Management system. 

Fraport AG's security services are complemented by the Medical Services responsible for medical care at Frankfurt Airport.

Baggage control at Frankfurt Airport takes place via a multi-stage control system for checked baggage (MRKA). This system replaces the former mobile control equipment used in front of the check-in areas.  MRKA, a fully automated system, is integrated in the airport's baggage conveyor system and ensures that the required controls meet the highest quality standards.
