The multifunctional "Airport City Mall" will be built in Terminal 1 in the center of Frankfurt Airport. The extensive range of retail and gastronomy services on a total area of 6,000 square meters will be accessible by way of the distributor level to the parking garage and by way of the regional train station underneath the arrivals and departures areas. New and trendy concepts in the medium price range make up the new mixture of businesses. Lighted gates are the core of the architectual concept which help to split up the area and provide an optical focus on the individual marketplaces.



All car rental companies will have their counters in the new "Car Rental Center" in Area A of the "Airport City Mall". The Travel Center of German Rail will remain in Area B. Area C will feature almost everything needed daily from a big supermarket, cleaners or hairdresser.

  

Shops and food courts will be found in all areas of the mall. In addition, flight information boards, information counters, public announcements and live webcam pictures from the apron will be seen in the mall.

The first construction phase ended in january 2008 in Area C which cover the "daily needs" sector. The project will be completed by 2012.
