Environment

Operating airports has an immediate impact on mankind and the environment. For Fraport, therefore, responsible business involves more than simply doing our duty. For instance, the predecessor company of Fraport AG, Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG, elevated protection of the environment to a corporate principle as far back as 1972. In addition, Fraport has traditionally been engaged in preservation of nature, as an essential basis for life for future generations, beyond the level required by law.

Among the main environmental policy goals of Fraport AG:

  • reducing aircraft noise nuisance
  • climate protection
  • preservation and promotion of biodiversity

In all emissions aspects we strive for a reduction in the environmental impact of our business operations. That includes efforts to develop effective environmental precautions, as well as establishing environmental management systems at our Group locations. In 2007, Fraport set up a far-reaching "Biodiversity Strategy", thus bundling its principles and its measures to preserve biological diversity.

Our efforts are concentrated especially on dealing carefully with the natural resources of soil, water and air. In addition, we strive to preserve the biological diversity at Frankfurt Airport and in the region.
