A380 Hangar

25,000 sqm

Hangar Area

Four A380

can simultaneously be attended

The first hangar section of the A380 Maintenance Base, commissioned in 2008, featuring a width of 180 m, a length of 140 m and a height of 45 m, can accommodate two Airbus 380 aircraft on some 25,000 square meters.

The hangar is the dedicated maintenance base for Lufthansa‘s A380 fleet which is used for flights from Frankfurt exclusively. The need of hangar parking bays depends both on the maintenance program and the size of the fleet.

The A380 maintenance hangar has an additional 70,000 square meter outdoor area with the corresponding aprons and roads. This area is used for maintenance work and for stands.

Lufthansa Technik AG has the option to realize a second construction phase of the A380 hangar.

After the optional completion of the second construction segment, the A380 hangar of Lufthansa Technik AG would be the biggest industrial building in Europe.

In addition, an engine test facility is installed in the A380 hangar in the South of Frankfurt Airport. This facility was set up by Fraport to allow jet engine testing, thus reducing noise impact for the airport neighbors during the test runs.
