Elias Brand has over 6 years of experience in the Aviation Security sector. He was working as an Aviation Security Assistant in Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport. Then he received advanced training for 6 months to become a Supervisor for Aviation Security. The main focus was split into two parts:

One core activity was the disposition of the Aviation Security personnel via the Safety and Security Operations Center. In this position he had to react according to the passenger numbers, passenger flows and unusual incidents. The other focus was on supervising the Aviation Security personnel on site to ensure the quality of the operating procedure and solve any problems that may occur.

In both positions he served as a contact person for passengers and airline representatives in all general matters. Prior to working at Fraport AG he was trained as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic at Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey. After this training he received the qualification by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The professional education focused on repairing and overhauling aircraft engines with all necessary background knowledge regarding aviation. He was working with two types of engines. The Turboprop engines PW100 by Pratt & Whitney and the Turbofan engines CF-34 by General Electric.

Alexander Larisch has over 19 years of work experience in the aviation industry; he started in the air cargo, freight forwarding and logistic industry, then continued with airlines and finally reached the airport industry. Alexander holds a degree in logistics and aviation management.

Alexander has completed more than 14 global ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer) projects over the past 10 years and is now responsible for managing this Fraport consulting service globally.

With more than 24 years of experience in the aviation industry, Esther Nitsche is an expert for operations and processes of all kinds in the ground handling and overall airport business. After her first years in various operative departments of Fraport, she launched and managed a groundhandling subsidiary of Fraport in Vienna, Austria, for four years. Back at Frankfurt she was responsible for several infrastructure development projects mainly with regard to the expansion of the baggage handling system. Esther holds a degree in Economics.

Over the past years, Esther has completed seven global consulting projects, most of them focusing on ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer). She currently serves as a Senior Project Manager in Fraport’s consulting team.

Katharina Dienst recently joined the Fraport Consulting Team after finalizing her double degree Master of Arts in the field of French-German Management from the IAE Business School in Metz and University of Applied Sciences in Mainz. Moreover, Katharina studied and worked for two years in Lille and Metz, France. In the beginning of 2017, she delivered her master thesis to the Fraport Consulting Team with the topic “Offering external consulting services as an internal consulting unit - The case of Fraport”.

Katharina started to work at the Fraport Consulting team during a 6 months-internship in order to support the ORAT team. She visualized Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and established tender application documentation. Her focus is on supporting sales and acquisition activities and on coordinating and managing documentation required in the consulting projects.

John Ryan has over 25 years professional experience in the management of aviation, real estate, retail and hospitality-related industries.

His range of business experience extends from running a finance and accounting department to preparing airport operational readiness, project management, financial controlling, strategic planning, IT systems strategy and detailed design, coordinating public tenders, budgetary planning, cash-flow forecasting, M&A procedures, regulation, cost control and asset management. He has a thorough operational understanding of how an airport is managed on a day-to-day basis and the challenges that entails.

At present, John is Project Director with Fraport AG, based at the headquarters in Frankfurt. He deals with international acquisitions, operational management contracts and consulting services. He has spent 10 years in our subsidiaries overseas, in New Delhi, Jeddah, and Dakar.

John originally studied Hotel Management at the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland.

Tabea Palmer has over seven years of professional experience in commercial due diligence, asset management and project management in Fraport’s merger & acquisition team.

After starting her career in the reporting & controlling team (responsible for the HQ reporting of the Fraport subsidiaries), she was an asset manager for the Delhi and Hannover airports, as well as Fraport’s Egypt Branch. Besides that, she headed several commercial due diligence projects, for example for Fraport’s bid preparation for Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg), ANA (Portuguese airports), the new Istanbul Greenfield airport and São Paulo (Guarulhos) Airport.

Since 2013, she has been working as a commercial consultant for airport retail and real estate development in Fraport’s international consulting team. In this position, she conducted and supervised several commercial due diligence projects (e.g. the acquisition of Airmall, a retail master concessionaire in the US) and commercial projects at different Fraport subsidiaries (e.g. Antalya and Pulkovo Airport).

Tabea holds an Executive MBA (University of Nottingham) and a diploma in Business Administration/Aviation Management.

Thomas Malkmus has 18 years of professional experience as an architect, including 15 years at airports. Since joining Fraport in 2001, he has been involved in a large number of infrastructure projects as a project manager and client representative.

He was involved in the substantial restructuring of the terminal infrastructure and capacity expansion at Frankfurt Airport over the past 10 years and has played a key role in shaping the current commercial concept.

As part of his planning and project management activities, he was also responsible for the entire project costs, scheduling, maintenance, fire protection requirements, procurement procedures, licensing issues and commissioning management.

During his career at Fraport, Thomas has dealt with all sorts of infrastructure issues: terminal equipment, passenger processes and processors, conception of retail space for different concepts, conception and calculation of technical equipment for Food & Beverages space, conception and development of lounge space, conception of office buildings, planning of parking facilities.

Due to his project experience, he is an expert for all airport-relevant processes and requirements.

Since joining the consulting team of Fraport’s external business unit in 2015, he has participated in terminal development at airports in Greece, Slovenia and Brazil.

He has worked with the commercial team on commercial studies for various airports and is also supporting ORAT projects as a commercial expert.

His focus as an architect of airports is the optimal combination of aviation and non-aviation requirements in the design development as well as the consideration of economic indicators and revenue targets.

Thorsten Astheimer has more than 20 years of professional experience in the aviation business with a focus on Airport Operations and Master Planning. He started his airport career in the project team for Fraport’s Airport Expansion Program and since then developed good skills in the management system and process related innovation projects, mostly on airside operations and Air-Traffic-Control.

Since 2010 he managed an international consortium of 6 major airport operators contributing to the SESAR – Single European Sky ATM-Research Program of the European Commission. He played a major role in drafting the airport related parts of the SESAR Concept of Operations and the European ATM Masterplan. During this assignment he gained a broad experience in all areas of airport related ATM such as Collaborative Airport Planning, Network Integration and ATC Systems at airports as well as in the management of international project teams.

In 2014 on behalf of ACI-Europe, Thorsten was involved in setting up the SESAR Deployment Manager, an industrial partnership managing the implementation of SESAR results across Europe for which he continues to work as an Airport Expert. He joined Fraport’s consulting team in 2016 working for various consulting and M&A projects, e.g. in Greece, Slovenia and Bulgaria.

Sven Arzt has over 25 years of professional experience in various fields of the airport business. His primary focus is in the operational field, i.e. Master Planning, ground and airside operations with the respective interfaces, process development and project management. He started his career in 1988 at Fraport working as a Ramp Agent, Load Controller, Operations Coordinator; besides he also qualified as an FAA licensed Flight Dispatcher with five years of practical experience.

With the extended development of Fraport’s external activities, he became the Director of Operations at Ineuropa Handling, Madrid Barajas Airport, under a Fraport Management contract for more than three years. Back at Frankfurt, he developed business strategies at the executive department of Fraport’s Ground Handling division before he became an IT Project Manager, developing and implementing Data and Communication Systems and the Airport’s AODB, related to all Ground Handling departments at Fraport.

In 2012, Sven joined the international consulting team working for various consulting and merger and acquisition projects in South America, Africa and Europe.

Bernd Andreas Becker has more than 18 years of professional experience in the field of Airport, Terminal and Master Planning. He started his airport career at Hochtief AirPort company involved in early stage development of the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport project and various international bidding competitions. In 2001 he joined Fraport AG for the airport expansion program as an airport planning expert. He was involved in the development of the new Terminal 3 conceptual design, master planning, land use planning (airside/ landside), cargo development and other airport infrastructure developments.

Bernd Andreas Becker is an expert in master planning and conceptual design. He has a broad expertise in all areas of airport related development including capacity planning, operational processes, requirements and infrastructure projects. He spent over 6 years working for the Fraport subsidiary Fraport Saudi Arabia based in Riyadh as Terminal Manager Operations with the responsibility of terminal enhancements. After his return to Frankfurt he joined the Fraport Greece Technical Team as Chief Master Planner based in Athens. He was responsible for the development of master plans for 14 Greek regional airports. In 2017 he was assigned to the Fraport Brasil Technical Team, in charge of the development of two preliminary master plan documents and the management of the international consulting team.

Bernd Andreas Becker is currently working as a Senior Project Manager in Fraport’s consulting team, based in Frankfurt. He holds a diploma in civil engineering (graduated in architecture), IATA diploma in Advanced Airport Operations and is a certified project manager.

Kevin Gsell joined the consulting team of Fraport’s Global Investments and Management unit in August, 2017 as Project Manager. Previously, Kevin had supported the team as an intern while finalizing his studies in Aviation Management at IUBH School of Business and Management. Kevin wrote his bachelor thesis on the effect competition between airports, focusing on strategies and methods for airports to increase productivity, as well as the development of strategies for airports to emerge in a competitive environment.

Prior to that, Kevin worked at Lima International Airport in Peru, supporting the project management office and airport master planning team in the infrastructure division during the planning and design of a major airport expansion project, which includes a new terminal, second runway and related facilities. Kevin speaks English, Spanish and German fluently – German and Spanish are his native languages, all courses at IUBH are held in English, yielding in a high level of business and airport vocabulary.

Sebastian Schulze has 20 years of professional experience as an architect, thereof 15 years at airports. Since he joined Fraport in 2001 he has been in charge of various development projects and programs. Leading the Frankfurt Terminal 3 masterplan and concept design development was certainly the most outstanding project so far. During his career at Fraport, Sebastian has dealt with all types of airport infrastructure: terminals, airport city, landside parking developments, people movers, hangars and fire stations. Due to his brought track record of projects, he is familiar with all airport-related processes and infrastructure projects.

For the external business of Fraport AG, he took part in the terminal development at the Group’s subsidiary airports in Varna/Burgas (Bulgaria), St. Petersburg (Russia), Istanbul (Turkey), and Lima (Peru). Since joining the Consulting team in early 2016, he has been responsible as a project director for the design development of the Greek regional airports. Furthermore, he supported the winning design consultant for the new Taipeh Terminal 3. Currently, Sebastian is joining the Lima Airport development program as a design consultant.

Sebastian Schulze has an architectural diploma from the ETH Zürich in Switzerland, an Executive Master of Science in Real Estate, and is a certified project manager.

Andreas had worked for a consulting company for the public tourism sector for five years before he joined Fraport in July 2000. At Fraport, he has been employed as a Senior Analyst as well as the Deputy Head of the Market & Trend Research Department for 13 years. His focus was on business intelligence, traffic analyses, route development, forecasting, strategic planning and advice as well as quantitative and qualitative market research projects within the aviation world including the development of different relevant models and tools.

With his background and experience Andreas contributed greatly to numerous due diligence and consulting projects of Fraport AG. In autumn 2012 he participated in a management exchange program with Tokyo-Narita Airport and spent three months in Japan. In July 2013 he entered a one-year commitment at Jeddah Airport/Saudi Arabia as a 'Director Business Development, Properties and Marketing' and was in charge of the commercial and real estate business of this airport.

After returning to Germany he joined the international consulting team of Fraport’s Global Investments and Management unit. Once again, he is focusing on traffic analysis & forecasts as well as on business and commercial airport development. In addition, Andreas is qualified in project management and was an external keynote speaker at different universities in the UK and Germany.

Felix Ueberschaer graduated as a Master of Science in industrial engineering from Darmstadt University of Technology in 2013, writing his Master’s thesis on “Supplier-Relationship Management at Airbus”. He afterwards joined Fraport’s trainee programme, where he gained international experience working for the Group’s subsidiary airport in St. Petersburg (Russia) at the Aviation Marketing department.

In 2014 Felix started working at Frankfurt Airport’s Market Research department as a traffic forecaster. In this role he was responsible for creating short- and long-term traffic forecasts. He increased planning efficiency at the airport by advancing the forecasting model on a scientific basis. This included regular participation and talks at aviation symposiums all over Europe.

Since joining Fraport’s Global Investments and Management unit in early 2018, Felix has been working on traffic analyses and forecasts for international business development projects as a project manager.
