No concessions for food & beverage outlets are currently free at Frankfurt Airport. Subject to availability, they are granted on the basis of submitted bids. The number one address for new business contacts and existing concessionaires—currently about 90—is the Airport Retailing department of Fraport AG. It coordinates all planning and activities in connection with retailing operations at the airport. Fraport only invites first-rate applicants with extensive retailing or food & beverage expertise and experience to join the competition for available concessions. Category management teams with appropriate expertise support them through the recruitment, bidding, and planning stages. This process normally takes up to two years. When new concessionaires have been accepted and start operating, Airport Retailing works with them closely in a spirit of partnership. The provided support includes market and customer analyses as well as ongoing quality management to maximize their business success.
