Prof. Dr. R. Alexander Lorz, Hessian Minister of Finance, was elected as the new Chair of Fraport AG’s Supervisory Board at its constitutive meeting held today (May 12). Lorz succeeds Michael Boddenberg, who stepped down from the Supervisory Board after six years of service, with effect from the end of today’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Earlier during the AGM, Fraport AG shareholders elected Alexander Lorz to the Supervisory Board.
Commenting on his election, Professor Dr. R. Alexander Lorz said:
“Frankfurt Airport is far more than just an airport. It's a key pillar of Hessian state infrastructure and our largest employer, as well as an essential transport hub for the German economy as a whole. With the recent opening of the new Terminal 3, FRA has once again impressively demonstrated its enormous international significance. Alongside its responsibility for the home region, Fraport also maintains a global presence. With 28 other airports across four continents, it is one of the world's leading airport operators. I am confident that, by working together with all employees, the Supervisory Board, the Executive Board, and our partners, we will continue to write Fraport AG’s success story – both in Germany and internationally. I am delighted to assume responsibility for this undertaking as Chair of the Supervisory Board in the years ahead.”
“A strong Frankfurt Airport is not a niche local issue – it is a matter of national importance. Germany can only secure its economic performance by maintaining the competitiveness of essential infrastructure. This requires a dependable operating environment, investment capabilities, a willingness to innovate, and aviation policies that take international competition seriously.”
