DRIVING AUTHORIZATIONS: OUR COURSES

Target Group

Employees of Fraport AG or external companies who need to drive on the Frankfurt Airport apron as part of their job dues.

Objective

Participants learn about the specific characteristics of apron traffic and the applicable safety regulations in a theoretical training session. In the subsequent practical session, the acquired knowledge is applied during a training drive with examination character.

Duration

2 days, 7 hours each (7:30 a.m. to approximately ca. 2:30 p.m.)

Registration Process

1. Complete the registration form (please enter your preferred date in the "Date" column).
2. Have the vision test certificate completed.
3. Send the registration form and vision test certificate by email to: fahrerausbildung@fraport.de
4. Confirmation of the requested date or assignment of an alternative course date will be provided by Driver Training.

Notes

The vision test may be carried out, for example, by Fraport AG Occupational Health Services, Medical Airport Services GmbH, or another occupational health provider. The vision test cerficate must be submitted at the me of registration. If the vision test is performed outside Fraport AG Occupational Health Services, only the official vision test form may be used.

Course Procedure

On the first day, participants complete the theoretical training including a final knowledge test. The practical training takes place on the second day. If the theoretical test is not passed on the first day, it may be retaken on the second day. Passing the test is a prerequisite for participating in the practical training. If the practical examination is not passed, one practical retest is permitted, provided the theory training was completed no more than four weeks earlier.

The training prerequisites specified in the Traffic Regulations (VO) must be met.

Target Group

Employees of Fraport AG or external companies who need to drive on the Frankfurt Airport apron but have no previous apron experience or are new to the airport environment.

Objective

The course provides participants with a practical introduction to apron operations at Frankfurt Airport and raises awareness of safe orientation and compliant behavior in this area.

1 day, 7 hours (7:30 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m.)

Notes

A valid yellow airport ID badge issued to the registering company must be presented and brought to the course. A high-visibility vest is also required.

Course Procedure

Participants receive a comprehensive introduction to the apron area of Frankfurt Airport. Important rules of conduct, traffic routes, and relevant markings are explained directly on site. These topics are subsequently reinforced in a compact theory session and placed into their operational context. Finally, participants can apply their knowledge in a simulator and gain initial driving experience under realistic conditions.

Employees of Fraport AG or external companies who have successfully completed the theory portion of the Basic Apron Driving Permit Course but were unable to attend the practical training due to missing documentation or other circumstances.

Objective

Participants apply their theoretical knowledge during a practical training drive with examination elements.

1 day, 7 hours (7:30 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m.)

Notes

The vision test certificate (if not submitted via email) and driver's license must be presented again. Otherwise, participation is not possible.

Course Procedure

If the practical examination is failed, one practical retest is permitted, provided that the theory training was completed within the previous four weeks.

Target Group

Employees of Fraport AG or external companies who did not pass the initial practical examination of the Basic Apron Driving Permit Course.

Objective

Participants apply their theoretical knowledge during a practical training drive with examination elements.

Course Procedure

If the second practical attempt is not passed, the participant must attend the entire Basic Apron Driving Permit Course again. No further separate practical retest is possible.

Praxis Nachprüfung (PDF)

Target Group

Employees of Fraport AG and external companies who wish to specifically improve their driving skills on the apron. This program is intended both for individuals who already hold an apron driver’s license and wish to increase their confidence behind the wheel, as well as for participants who did not pass their first practical exam and wish to prepare specifically for their second attempt.

Objective

Participants gain greater confidence in driving on the apron and strengthen their confidence in operating vehicles independently and in compliance with regulations.

The driver’s license must be presented prior to the training, otherwise participation is not possible.

Course Procedure

This course is for practice purposes only and does not include an examination.

Participation requires either a valid apron driving permit or proof of successful completion of the theory course within the last four weeks.

Target Group

Employees who must drive on the apron but have not done so within the previous 3 to 12 months. This refresher training is based on EASA ADR.OPS.D.017 Regulations.

Objective

Participants refresh their knowledge of apron driving permit requirements, rules, regulations, and safetyrelated topics.

Approximately 90 minutes

The training can be completed remotely via an e-learning program and does not require attendance at the driver training facility. No login details are required for this training. Course Procedure

This training course is intended solely to refresh existing knowledge and does not include a final examination.

Target Group

Employees who are required to connue driving on the apron as part of their dues are obliged to renew their apron driving license every 24 months. This recurrent training is based on the EASA regulations ADR.OPS.D.017.

Objective

Participants will update and expand their knowledge regarding the apron operator's license. The course will review and reinforce the key rules, regulations, and safety-related aspects of traffic on the apron.

Notes

The training can be completed remotely as part of an e-learning program and does not require in-person attendance at the driver training facility. The login credentials for the recurrent training will be sent by the driver training facility to the participant’s employer three months before the apron driver’s license expiration date. The login credentials are personal and must not be shared with third pares.

Course Procedure

The e-learning course concludes with a theoretical test. If the test is not passed after five attempts, the “Apron Driver’s License” qualification will be immediately revoked in accordance with applicable regulations. The same applies if the required refresher training is not completed by the deadline. In the event of a suspension of driving permit, the responsible manager or designated contact person will be notified in writing. To regain driving permit, the individual must retake the “Apron Driver’s License” basic course offered by Fraport Driver Training.
