Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, and AeroGround Flughafen München GmbH, a wholly-owned ground handling subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH (the operator of Munich Airport), have developed a joint virtual reality (VR) training tool for ground handling operations.
Today (April 29), Fraport AG laid the cornerstone for Frankfurt Airport’s new Terminal 3, one of Europe’s largest privately financed infrastructure projects. Numerous guests and construction workers attended the ceremony, which marked the start of above-ground construction.
25 years ago, the very first aircraft arrived at Terminal 2: a Cathay Pacific Boeing 747 from Hong Kong with 350 passengers onboard. Since the official inauguration on October 24, 1994, Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal 2 has been the departure point, destination or stopover for some 200 million travelers.
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed nearly 4.7 million passengers in January 2019, thus starting the year with 2.3 percent traffic growth. Without strike and weather-related flight cancellations, passenger traffic at FRA would have grown by about 4.3 percent.
Fraport AG has purchased a further 10-percent stake in Lima Airport Partners S.R.L. (LAP) – operator consortium of Jorge Chavez International Airport Lima – from AC Capitales’ Infrastructure Fund, which held the stake for over 10 years.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) has awarded Fraport USA (a subsidiary of Fraport AG) a five-year contract to manage the retail concessions space of Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
Fraport AG’s executive board chairman, Dr. Stefan Schulte, struck a positive note at the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) today: “We can look back on a very successful 2018. Supported by strong growth in passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport and our international locations, we achieved a new record high for revenue and earnings.
At Fraport AG’s regular Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, 99.97 percent of the shareholders approved the recommended dividend of €2.00 per share. Thus, the dividend for fiscal year 2018 will increase by 50 euro cents, or by one third compared to the previous year.
On March 6, Fraport AG inaugurated a €6 million training center for the Fraport Aviation Academy at Ljubljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia. This new training facility will allow the Fraport Group to expand its international training activities to meet the growing demand from external and the internal customers – partcularly in the areas of firefighting, emergency services, crisis management, ground handling.
Fraport AG and Swissport Cargo Services Deutschland GmbH today laid the foundation stone for Swissport’s new airfreight facility at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), marking another milestone in the future development of FRA as an airfreight location.
During the first half of fiscal 2019 (ending June 30), the Fraport Group achieved growth in both revenue and earnings. Group revenue increased by 5.2 percent to €1,513.9 million, after adjusting for revenue in connection with capital expenditures made for expansion projects at Fraport’s Group airports worldwide (according to IFRIC 12).
Some 6.4 million passengers traveled through Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in October 2019, up 1.0 percent compared to the same month last year. In the first ten months of 2019, passenger traffic at FRA grew by 2.2 percent.
