THE ENVIRONMENT VALUES, OBJECTIVES, PROGRAMS

Aviation and the operation of an airport impact the environment in a wide variety of ways.

Fraport AG believes it has a responsibility to meet these environmental requirements.

The Executive Board of Fraport AG approved a Group-wide environmental policy in 2008, which obliges all Group companies to adopt a sustainable, considerate and careful approach to natural resources and the environment and continuously improve their environmental performance.
At Frankfurt Airport, we do this via eleven environmental aspects.

Clear strategy and objective

Fraport will significantly reduce the CO2 emissions at Frankfurt and across the entire group by 2030. The goal is to lower the group’s total annual CO2 emissions to 95,000 tonnes and those at Frankfurt Airport to 50,000 tonnes by 2030. Fraport is aligning the reduction targets for its group companies outside Germany with the national goals of the countries in which they are located.

Frankfurt Airport’s goal for the year 2030 is geared to the targets for 2050 defined by the German government’s climate protection plan. Accordingly, Fraport’s CO2  emissions at Frankfurt Airport and for the Fraport Group as a whole will decline to zero by the year 2045. Where CO2 and all other climatically relevant greenhouse gases are concerned, the Fraport Group is committed to achieving net zero scope 1 and 2 gases at all of its fully consolidated group companies by 2045 at the latest
