AIRPORT SUPPLIERS

Our “checklist”:

• You must train a security manager (in accordance with Chapter 11.2.5 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998).

• You must train all employees involved in the secure supply chain implementing security controls (in accordance with Chapter 11.2.3.10 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998). This also applies to employees without an airport ID card. Persons with unescorted access to airport supplies require training (in accordance with Chapter 11.2.7 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998).

• You must conduct an enhanced background check for all employees implementing security controls or having unescorted access to airport deliveries. For affected employees without an airport ID card, background checks must be requested from the appropriate authority in the federal state where the company’s facility is located.  

• You must apply for airport ID cards for all employees working at the airport.

• You must apply for vehicle passes for all vehicles entering the security-restricted area and should ensure that drivers hold an apron driving license.

• You must describe the required security measures to protect airport supplies in a security program and implement those security measures. If needed, Fraport will assist you in writing the security program.

It is also necessary for Fraport to visit respective facilities where airport supplies originate and validate the compliant implementation of the security program. This will take place as soon as possible after your application.  

Only after all requirements have been successfully met, Fraport will designate the company as a known supplier of airport supplies for a period of 3 years.

The duration of the designation process varies from 2 to 6 months, depending on the company.
