ROBOTICS STRATEGY

Robotics: An Innovation Driver For The Future of Airport Operations

Robotics is opening up all kinds of opportunities and ideas for airports. By deploying modern robotics technologies, routine tasks can be automated and processes made more efficient, allowing the quality of services to be improved on a sustainable basis. Especially at an international hub like Frankfurt Airport, robotics solutions can help with meeting the needs of rising passenger volumes, more complex procedures, and increased demands for reliability and security.

Another key advantage is the ability to ease pressure on employees: robots can take on time-consuming or physically burdensome activities, freeing up staff to tackle more challenging tasks. Robots are therefore a way to counter workforce shortages and create attractive, future-proofed employment opportunities. Beyond these advantages, innovative technologies such as robotics can facilitate even more flexible and responsive management of airport operations – including in challenging situations.

Robotics Competence Center - Fraport's Hub for Robotics Issues

Fraport is taking a coordinated and structured approach when it comes to harnessing the wide range of opportunities that robotics offers. A core component of this strategy is the Robotics Competence Center (RCC). The RCC serves as a central port-of-call for all robotics issues in the company. The aim is to provide a central facility to collate knowledge and experiences, monitor and assess new technologies, and coordinate the introduction of robotics solutions.

The RCC ensures that the various units receive the right kind of support, allowing for synergies to be harnessed and common standards to be established when using robotics. In turn, this facilitates the efficient and responsible integration of innovative technologies into existing processes and the future-proofing of airport operations.
