Fraport Traffic Figures – February 2026: Winter Weather and Industrial Action Impact Passenger Volumes at FR

Passenger numbers in Frankfurt remain stable at 3.9 million – Total passengers across the Group grow by 3.1 percent to 8.7 million

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed some 3.9 million passengers in February 2026, with traffic remaining stable compared to February last year. During the reporting month, passenger numbers were negatively impacted particularly by strike and weather-related flight cancellations, which affected around 70,000 travelers in total.

Cargo volumes in Frankfurt (comprising airmail and airfreight) increased by 4.8 percent year-on-year to 159,362 metric tons in February. Meanwhile, aircraft movements declined by 2.9 percent year-on-year, to 29,320 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) decreased by 2.4 percent to approximately 1.9 million metric tons.

Across the Group, most airports in Fraport’s international portfolio saw passenger growth in February 2026. Traffic at Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU) soared by 17.2 percent year-on-year to 95,121 passengers. Fraport’s two Brazilian airports, Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA), posted a strong combined increase of 14.7 percent, reaching a total of 1.1 million passengers. At Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru, traffic rose by 4.2 percent to 2.0 million passengers. In Greece, Fraport’s 14 regional airports handled 720,587 passengers, up 9.1 percent year-on-year. The two Bulgarian coastal airports of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) together welcomed 79,968 travelers, an increase of 11.4 percent. In contrast, traffic at Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera slipped by 3.8 percent year-on-year to 865,187 passengers in February.

In the reporting month, the total number of passengers across all airports actively managed by Fraport grew by 3.1 percent year-on-year, reaching approximately 8.7 million.
