Fraport Traffic Figures – January 2026: Most Group Airports Start New Year with Significant Passenger Growth

4.1 million passengers at Frankfurt Airport – Increase of 4.9 percent
– Total Group traffic rises by 7.1 percent to 9.6 million passengers    

4.1 million travelers flew via Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in January. This was an increase of 4.9 percent from the same month in 2025. Cargo volumes increased by 1.2 percent in January, to 150,044 metric tons. The number of aircraft movements increased by 1.1 percent, with 31,284 takeoffs and landings. The total maximum takeoff weights were around 2.0 million metric tons. This represented a year-on-year increase of 0.6 percent.

The Fraport Group’s international airport portfolio recorded growing passenger numbers across all regions. At Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU), traffic rose by 20.8 percent to 87,672 passengers. Fraport’s two Brazilian airports, Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA), also recorded a strong combined increase of 24.9 percent, with a total of 1.3 million passengers. At Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru’s capital city, traffic rose slightly by 1.3 percent to 2.2 million travelers. Fraport’s 14 Greek airports were used by a total of 717,808 passengers. This equates to growth of 8.1 percent. In Bulgaria, the two coastal airports of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) welcomed 92,263 passengers – a 16.2 percent increase. Meanwhile, traffic at Antalya (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera rose by 7.4 percent to 1.1 million passengers.

The total number of passengers at all airports actively managed by Fraport increased by 7.1 percent year-on-year to around 9.6 million in January 2026.
