The Fire Prevention Infrastructure and Control Panel (BIS) section is responsible for maintaining fire extinguishers, approving work that involves fire hazards, and overseeing the control panels for fire prevention systems.

Fire extinguisher maintenance encompasses the following areas:

• Fire extinguishers
• Labeling of Fire Department peripheral devices  
• Maintenance, inspection and approval of fire detector positioning plans / fire department routing map

Control panel training for switch masters is provided for the fire protection department.

The fire prevention infrastructure in buildings includes:  

• 596 fire alarm panels (in 314 fire alarm systems)
• approx. 55,000 automatic fire detectors in Fraport buildings
• 1,504 main detectors (incl. 188 detectors of the HBG refueling company at aircraft parking positions)
• 11,325 portable fire extinguishers, 934 wheeled fire extinguishers, approx. 1,331 fire extinguisher spray cans
• approx. 272 stationary fire extinguisher systems (sprinklers, CO2, powder, foam)
• approx. 120,000 sprinkler heads
• 2,789 hydrants
• 105 firefighting water supply points
• 83 standpipes

The Operational Fire Prevention section is responsible for fire prevention concerns relating to buildings and the airport infrastructure. It monitors existing and new buildings and building permit proceedings to ensure that the operational and organizational fire protection requirements are observed. From the planning phase through to commissioning, it advises on and monitors  new buildings, renovation and conversion work and changes of use in order to ensure compliance with Fraport’s internal standards as well as structural, systems and organizational fire prevention requirements.  

The section supports fire protection, participates in risk prevention inspections workplace inspections, and is involved in event planning and realization. It coordinates fire security services for events and handles international projects in connection with Fraport AG’s external business with a focus on terminal facilities and airport buildings.

In an operational context, the section consults or leads fire prevention activities and is involved in basic training courses, measures in connection with the talent promotion pool and management training as a specialist instructor.

The Incident Response Preparation and Planning section is responsible for incident response planning, compiling incident information and preparing incident response concepts.
The unit initiates the advance planning process for future incidents and ensures that the required information and expertise are available when incidents occur.

This encompasses:  

• Forward-looking, scenario-oriented planning whose findings and decisions are set out in incident response concepts and plans.
• Checking that all documents and plans are updated at regular intervals.

In addition to coordinating with other sections  on current topics, its core tasks include updating detector and elevator data sheets, incident response planning for special properties, and planning and conducting evacuation and property drills.  

In the area of aircraft rescue and firefighting, the section is responsible for preparing and revising the incident response master plans for incidents involving aircrafts and the building infrastructure.
