Before Airport ID Cards can be applied for, it is necessary to check which of the following requirements are met and which documents are required for this purpose. How to register a company

• Is there a BADV permit agreement with Fraport AG? Further information is available here.
• Is there a lease agreement with Fraport AG? The application for company registration must be accompanied by the first page of the lease agreement as well as the signature page. Important: You will only receive the maximum ID card color that is required to access the rented premises! The only exception is for tenants of Terminal 3 whose deliveries are made via the apron.
• Is there a contract with Fraport AG, an authority, or another company that has a direct contractual relationship with Fraport AG? In this case, the application for registration must be submitted once for signature by the contracting company, department, or authority. Principle of contracting authority.
• Is it an airline operating at Frankfurt Airport? In this case, the registration must be completed and signed, and sent to the Airport ID Card Service Center. No additional documents are required. The basis for your activity will be independently verified by the Airport ID Card Service Center.
  
• Is it an authority with sovereign responsibilities? In this case, the registration must be completed and signed, and sent to the Airport ID Card Service Center. No additional documents are required.
  
• Is there any other permit to operate at Frankfurt    Airport?    In this case, the registration must be completed and signed, and sent to the Airport ID Card Service Center. No additional documents are required. The basis for your activity will be independently verified by the Airport ID Card Service Center

Afterwards, ID Cards can be requested. The form can also be used to update company information, such as changes to authorized signatories.

For authorization of a vehicle for the apron or the operational area, please complete the “Vehicle ID Card application”.

Shipping companies and courier services with no office at the airport can use the “transferable Vehicle ID Card” to enter airport access gates Tor 31 and Tor 32.

Yes, you need a permanent, personal Airport ID Card if you are working at Frankfurt Airport. If it’s just for a few days, however, you can also apply for a Visitor ID Card. The Visitor ID Card is a personal, but temporary ID Card.

Temporary Visitor ID Cards are available at the following locations: airport access gate Tor 3a and Airport ID Card Service Center in Building 161 and in Terminal 1 Arrivals Hall C. Please note the respective opening hours.  

Visitor ID Cards for the operational area (green):

Visitor ID Cards for the operational area can be issued for a maximum of 5 days per month (and max. 20 days a year). Submission of an EU ID card or passport (with a residence permit if applicable) is required as proof of identity.

Visitor ID Cards for the security-restricted area (aubergine/ purple):

Visitor ID Cards for the security-restricted area can be issued 5 days per month per person – with no background check or aviation security training and max. 12 days a year.

This type of Visitor ID is however is only issued under the condition that the person is constantly accompanied by a holder of a valid Fraport ID Card (of at least the equivalent color).Submission of an EU ID card or passport (with a residence permit if applicable) is required as proof of identity.

The accompanying person must also be present on site when the ID Card is collected.

Should your work assignment extend beyond the period stated above, please apply for an Airport ID Card.

ID cards/access badges can be requested directly from the Service Center for Airport ID Cards (SCF) via our website or web portal.

Applications for ID cards must be completed digitally in full and signed either by hand or with a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) in accordance with the eIDAS Regulation, including all required supporting documents (copy of the national ID card or passport, proof of employment, and, where applicable, training certificates). The application package must then be submitted by email in PDF format (combined into a single file with a maximum size of 5 MB) to flughafenausweise@fraport.de.

If the application is to be submitted in a password-protected file, the encryption procedure must be requested in advance by email.

Unfortunately, handwritten application forms cannot be processed.

The direct issuance of ID cards at the SCF service center is possible upon presentation of the signed application form.

Please note that this service is available exclusively in person and cannot be used via email; therefore, prior submission of the application form is not required.

Airport ID cards for the operational area (green) can be issued directly.

Security-related ID cards (blue/yellow) can only be issued immediately if the required training courses have been successfully completed and the background check has already been recorded in the system. This includes the Aviation Security Training (required for blue and yellow ID cards) and, where applicable, the Safety Basic Training (required for yellow ID cards).

An appointment is required for this service. Additional charges apply in accordance with the current Fraport AG Schedule of Services and Fees.

If you would like a different ID card color, you need to submit a corresponding ID card application. If you are applying for a higher-level ID card color, you must meet the necessary requirements and, if applicable, apply for them as well (background check and training sessions).

The airport has areas with different access requirements. The area for which an ID Card is valid is denoted by its color. This relates to Airport ID Cards as well as Vehicle ID Cards and Visitor ID Cards. The Airport ID Cards are granted various access rights in association with the color of the ID card.

The ID Card you are issued with will depend on where you are working at the airport. Information on other types of ID Card and additional authorizations can be found in the ID Card Regulations.

To apply for an ID Card online, the company must register itself first.

Therefore you could choose between two Options:

Digital Registration Form

A form is generated in this process, which you should please complete, sign, and return to  flughafenausweise@fraport.de  in PDF format. As soon as processing at the Airport ID Card Service Center is complete, you will receive an e-mail with the access data you need for the online application. Please note that, at present, only personal permanent ID Cards can be applied for via the  web portal.

Only authorized signatories are allowed to sign the application form.

Anyone performing activities in the airside areas (ID Card colors green + L, blue, and yellow) must undergo a background check.

In the state of Hesse, the Frankfurt Police Headquarters is responsible for the performance of the background check. The personal details are checked by various government agencies. This requires the disclosure of residential addresses and periods of (non-)employment/periods of training in the last five years.  The (non-) periods of   employment or training must be accompanied by appropriate supporting documents.

Frankfurt Police Headquarters requires a certificate of good conduct for people who have lived and/or worked outside Germany during this period. This must be enclosed with the application.

As soon as you need access to the airside areas (green +L, blue and yellow ID Cards), you must pass a valid background check as per Section 7 of the Aviation Security Act.

In case you can not provide a suitable evidance as proof of (non-) employment periods, you can fullfill a "Proof of interview" Form.

The  interviewing entity is the applying company.

Please fill  out the document digitally and provide the personal data analogous to the background check application.

For each (non-) employment period, a separate form "Proof of Interview" is  required.

Employment, training, and gaps of more than 28 days within the last five years must be supported by appropriate documentation. Self-written declarations are not accepted.

For applicants employed by the applying company for at least five years, confirmation by an authorized signatory is sufficient. Otherwise, the remaining periods must be documented and listed.

Alternatively, the “Proof of Interview” form may be used.

The background check (ZVÜ) by the Aviation Security Authority of Hesse must be requested using the application form for a background check (Part 1 / Part 2).

The application must be received by the authority no later than three months before the current background check expires. We therefore recommend submitting the application to us four to six months before the expiry date.

If a valid background check is already available (e.g. issued by another German federal state), please send it together with a copy of the applicant’s ID document by email to flughafenausweise@fraport.de.  

Aviation security training is required to access airside areas (blue and yellow airport ID cards). The login details for the online training will be sent by post to the applying company.

Employees who have not been in a security restricted area for six months or longer must receive a security awareness briefing from their employer before re-entering the area. Further information can be found here: Aviation Security Training

The briefing must be documented and retained by the employer for five years. There is no need to inform the Airport ID Service Center, and airport ID cards will not be automatically blocked. Repeating the aviation security training in accordance with Section 11.2.6 of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 is not required in this case.

Basic safety training is required to access the apron (yellow ID card).

The login details for the online training will be sent by post to the company submitting the application.

Employees who have not performed work-related duties for a period of three months or longer (e.g. due to vacation, illness, short-time work, etc.) must complete the basic safety training before resuming work on the airside operational areas. For this purpose, the respective employers must request the login details for Fraport AG’s e-learning system by contacting safety-schulung@fraport.de.

The respective employers must ensure that unescorted access to the airside operational areas is only permitted after the required safety training has been successfully completed.

For the extension of Airport ID Cards, the “Airport ID Card application” must be completed again. Companies can submit these ID Card applications online via the web portal for Airport ID Cards  (available in German only) or application forms  .

Yes, this is possible. You will receive a separate Airport ID Card for each activity. For a “further activity,”   the company that wishes to contract you must submit an “Airport ID Card application form.” In this case, application type “further activity” must be selected in “Section B” of the application form. Your company will be informed as soon as processing is complete.  

Please bring your current Airport ID Card when you are issued the additional ID Card.

Visitor ID Cards & Green Airport ID Cards: No minimum age
Green+L, Yellow & Blue Airport ID Cards:   14 years

Student interns generally require a permanent airport ID card. If necessary, a visitor's pass can also be used, please check the requirements in advance.

It is essential to arrange an appointment to collect your ID Card.  

Please bring a valid EU identity card or passport for identity verification.

• Your ID photo will be taken when you collect your Airport ID Card.
• The green vehicle pass is issued digitally.
• The red vehicle pass is also issued digitally. However, the apron vehicle plates must still be collected from us. Please bring the vehicle registration document with you. A copy is sufficient.

The Airport ID Card Service Center (main office) is situated in Building 161, Room 1032.

Please arrange an appointment to collect your ID Card.

In this case, you can have your ID Card replaced free of charge at the Airport ID Card Service Center – even without an appointment.

If this happens, please inform the Safety & Security Control Center immediately at +49 69 690 22222.

If you do not find the ID Card, you will rece ive a new Airport ID Card at our Service Center on submission of your EU national identity card or passport.. An appointment is not required.

In this case, you can obtain a replacement Airport ID Card for one day from the locations below. It must be returned afterwards and costs €15.00 (net).

You can obtain replacement Airport ID Cards from the following issuing points:

• Airport access gate 32:  24 hours every day
• Airport access gate 3 and 31: 6:00 to 22:00

It is mandatory to return an airport ID card if the card has expired, has been blocked, or is no longer needed.

Postal return:
The address is located on the back of the ID card. Registered mail is recommended when mailing the ID card.

The Vehicle ID Card is valid for five years. Before the five years expire, a new application for a Vehicle ID Card can be made so that the ID Card is extended for another five years. If you no longer need the Vehicle ID Card, please return it in promptly.  

Please attach a copy of the vehicle registration document to the application for a Vehicle ID Card. Proof of technical or accident prevention inspection is not required.

You submit an application for a Vehicle ID Card and, when collecting the ID Card, you can choose between a Vehicle ID Card that is affixed to the windshield or a Vehicle ID Card that can be affixed to the metal of the vehicle body.

Your company pays for every full year (not calendar year) that you use the Vehicle ID Card. On the first day of the new year, you will be invoiced for the use of the Vehicle ID Card for another year. 

To ensure that Vehicle ID Card applications are processed quickly and properly, all the information required on the form   must be entered digitally and in full. The form must then be signed and sent by e-mail in PDF format (combined in a single document) to flughafenausweise@fraport.de.

Shipping companies and courier services that are not based at Frankfurt Airport can use a transferable Vehicle ID Card to enter airport access gates Tor 26, Tor 31, and Tor 32.

Please submit  ID Card Application  for the vehicle as normal using the form on our homepage. As soon as processing is complete, your company will receive confirmation by e-mail that the license plate has been registered for automatic license plate recognition.

No, a green vehicle ID Card is no longer issued, but only recorded digitally.

Yes, the license plates are automatically stored with existing green vehicle ID Card so that entry is possible without the physical vehicle pass.

An ID card is valid for 5 years, which is printed on the ID card. Training courses and background checks have different validity periods and can lead to an ID card being blocked if they expire before then.

If the ID  card is no longer needed and the ID card application being processed is  withdrawn, a brief written notification to flughafenausweise@fraport.de is  requested.

In this case, please hand in your change-of-name certificate or your current national ID card along with your Airport ID Card at the Airport ID Card Service Center. You will then receive an Airport ID Card with your new name.   Please arrange an appointment.
